Meeting of July 10, 2015

City of Humble, Texas; Humble Civic Center; 1:00 PM

The meeting was called to order by Carole Chambers at 1:02 pm. Carole led the pledge and Jim DeMasi led the prayer.

The minutes were approved as written.

Treasurer's report: Chris reported that the treasurer had a balance of $2,071.47

Introduction of members was completed.

Committe Reports

Pam Dickson reported on THE MISSION: The Mission is about to start construction on a warehouse for food. They will have a golf tournament on September 18, 2015 and their annual luncheon on October 5, 2015; both fund raisers for the organization.

Churches: None

Hospitals: Leroy reported that his hospital did very well during Tropical Storm Bill.

Schools: None

Communications: ARES had a field day at LoneStar College . They had a lot of participation including boy scouts who were able to earn a merit badge. ARES has 4 new and 1 on order, repeaters that can send both message traffic and image traffic.

Humble/Atascocita OEMs: John Psimas reported that the AVFD OEM is fully staffed. Alice and Glen Rekeweg have joined AVFD OEM.

Old Business

Carole is requesting pictures from anyone for the website.

New Business

Philippe Cras is holding an open house at his hotel, Homewood Suites, on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 3p-7p. . Come see the renovations that were done. Everyone is invited to attend

There are two positions up for re-election in November. Richard and David’s position are the ones up for re-election. If anyone is interested in running for these positions please let Carole know by October 30, 2015. Richard will be running again and Carole is waiting to hear from David.

Speaker:

The speaker was Ms. Misty Gunn from Harris County Homeland Security Office of Emergency Management. She spoke about the office and how it is staffed. She stated that the facility is a one of a kind facility. It is a national model to show best practices of emergency planning, preparedness, response and recovery. The agency covers 13 counties plus 34 municipalities. All these agencies plan together for emergency preparedness. Their website is: www.hcoem.org

The meeting was adjourned by Carole at 1:45pm.
